These include images that vary from fashion to art to photography but I have spent time looking at sites aimed at women. I recognise that this may be a bizarre area to research from but I believe that sites such as:

...are an up to date look into womens lives. Most updated daily, they allow an insight into the world of women. When linking this to my Whisky brief, I think it's important to not only study pieces of design but look at what the current culture is trending at the moment.
When I started designing the logo for 'Scarlet' I knew that I wanted something typographic and used this research to help me with my inspiration.
With regards to 'the range' this promotional range for a confectionary company was something that I liked. It showed how versatile a logo can be. It is particularly typographic and simplistic aesthetically. It is not over crowding and allows a lot of empty space. This is something I like due to the uncomplicated outcome. Despite there being quite a lot of text, its small point size and clever use of colour creates an interesting outcome with regards to the hierarchy. As I progress through my development of my logo, I have started to notice the importance of this. Deciding what information I want to be read first and what's important. In terms of the range I don't think the neutral colours of the bag works that well with the darkness of the black on the invite, however the different pieces of packaging is something that I like.
Key points that I like: clean aesthetic, uncomplicated design, REALLY simplified design, a lot of white space.
With regards to my logo I started designing in a rectangle. I had also considered a cubic bottle, and therefore a square label. I then saw this and started to consider working within a circle. I like the use of type within a circle. Especially as a logo. I will try it out with regards to my project. I will also make reference to the use of circles with Marc Jacobs packaging.
Despite not really liking the typeface used with the image above, it does raise the image of using a white line to create the circle on an entire page of black. Perhaps I could use this like the image below to create a contrast to the colour of the liquid within the bottle.
I like how the liquid and type is the same colour too so that once consumed, it allows a change in the packaging. This adds a personal touch, or at least a sense of humour to the product.
This piece of packaging refers back to a previous blog post, regarding the importance of detail. I am hoping to create an added experience to the product. I like how this piece has the logo and product name on the front, then folds out. Despite the packaging being pretty dull it does make it more exciting that if there was nothing else. Again I think the monochrome works well, perhaps it's because there is symbolism involved but it is something I think I will do initially, then start to experiment with further.
I really like this signage and use of a bold typeface. I also like the use of upper case for all of the letters. I have started using a typeface from dafont.com called futurist fixed-width. This is a typeface that I think looks so much better when used with upper case. However, initially I was concerned that it looked very similar to The White Company logo. Although I decided to progress with my designing to progress with it rather than try to change it completely as logos are always going to start by looking similar to things.
