Peacocks' online presence

Claudia found some more online presence of Peacocks. Due to the website being down we were quite desperate to find as much as we could. It proved to be harder than it should be to find things on such a big brand.

This is some of her information.

I then went on to find a blog that they had set up. This seemed to be aimed at the same target audience we had identified with.

Young fashionable girls/women that wanted a bargain. The layout wasn't horrific and despite being out of date seemed to be an interesting site to show their products off.

The Pearl and Daisy Lowe section of the blog was also very interesting and promoted the style decisions of Pearl Lowe. Certain aspects such as:

"The offering, which is Pearl Lowe's seventh collection for the high street store, comprises six dresses - inspired by a mix of the Seventies,Forties and the designer's favourite style icons - Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell and Stevie Nicks.
"In the Forties, people had to make their own dresses, so everything was so original and beautifully made," the designer said. "The prints, however, were inspired by my favourite singer Stevie Nicks.I predict the black dress with the white lace trim to be another sell out, as it's a follow on from last year's black dress with the lace collar that sold out in a week."

It astounded me that this sort of store was getting publicity like this and was evidently NOT publicising it enough. It was also interesting to see that Pearl was not only designing for women but children as well. However we probably need to identify or acknowledge that women will be the main customers that will predominantly be buying for their families

Pearl appeals to women due to her designs being family orientated, as well as fashionable.

Despite the company's decline and liquidation- which includes several stores closing the news and events page seems to be lacking in recent news or updates. This lack of information doesn't really communicate the right message either.

During a crit many people were saying that they hadn't even heard of this shop and if they had, it's reputation was off putting. It is clear that a re brand and drastic change is necessary.

I knew that the brand was based in Wales, however, it was Lorraine that mentioned looking at how it was perceived in Wales, and whether the reputation of it was different. While looking through the blog I started looking at the videos on Peacocks' youtube page.

I couldn't believe how vast it's online presence was, how could a company have such an extensive promotional side and it be so unknown.

It was interesting to see that the student night was held in Cardiff.
