What if? : Secret Leeds Research

We were inspired by a group called 'Secret London',

This website started on facebook and was designed to uncover secret sites that a lot of people didn't know about it the capital. We thought that it was a great idea and thought that we could use it and apply it to Leeds.

Leaflets and flyers

Our 'Secret Leeds'
We set up our own facebook group and tried to invite as many online friends as we could and suggested that they tell us about their secrets, however, we only got a few ideas and none were that strong. The success of our group was probably due to us being quite new to the city and the short term deadline.

We continued to try and find research from people. We created a survey by asking where peoples favourite places in leeds were. Our results showed:

1. Kirkstall Abbey 2. Yorkshire Sculpture Park 3. Hyde Park Picture House 4. The Pack Horse (Hidden Pub) 5. St Georges Field 6. Nation of Shopkeepers 7. Smokestack 8. Brunell Social Club 9. Fuji Hiro 10. Park next to Liberty Park 11. Viva Cuba

There was also a website

We then discovered 'Leeds Secret Tea Room', this seemed like a non student concept that could work if the promotion was improved. Therefore we decided we wanted to create a product that combined this concept and some of the other research we had gathered.

This park St George's Field was mentioned during our researching, this park is found by following a path, its a green area in a built up city. These photos were taken when we went there as we wanted to gather some primary research.

Defining our problem and our intention.

- Not many non-student events in Leeds so we intend to create an event for older audiences.
- Increase promotion so more people know about it. More effective promotion.
- Our event will highlight and inform people of picnic areas.

We need to continue our research as it will give us a better position when organising things and making decisions on how to advertise and promote.
